Annual Boost to Local Economy

The I-49 Corridor runs from Winnipeg, Canada, all the way to Louisiana. However, there is a 3.5-mile gap in Shreveport/Bossier preventing the corridor from reaching South Louisiana in Lafayette. Building the remaining 3.5 miles and completing the corridor will add North Louisiana jobs and provide an economic $800 million boost to the local Shreveport/Bossier economy, as travel will no longer be directed around our area but through it!

Proposed I-49 Inner City Connector Route

What are benefits for the Allendale neighborhood?

Increased Access

With off/on ramps at Ford Street and North Hearne, residents will enjoy increased access for the following:

Convenient and more cost-efficient access to Shreveport/Bossier retail and health clinics

Quicker access for fire and police to the neighborhood

Shorter and quicker routes to hospitals, including a Level 1 Trauma Center

Higher Property Values

The increase in access will raise property values and attract new residents, reversing the steady decline the neighborhood has experienced over the past 30 years.

More Jobs

The $800 million annual economic impact will increase jobs throughout the city, including Allendale.
